Canada’s First National Park

Banff National Park is one of the world’s leading tourism destinations offering unparalleled mountain nature, beauty, waterways, adventure, and culture. Comprised of both the hamlet of Lake Louise and the town of Banff, the area offers year-round outdoor activities for hiking, biking, camping, wildlife viewing, sightseeing, fishing, canoeing, bird watching as well as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice-climbing, and ice diving. As Canada’s first and oldest national park, it is a must-see destination on any traveller’s bucket list.

 

Park Pass

Banff National Park is a protected national park which requires a Park Pass for travel inside the park. Park Passes can be purchased at any of the park entry gates or Parks Canada Visitor Centres. For more information call toll free 1.800.748.7275.

  • May 16 to June 19: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. 
  • June 20 to September 5: 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.  
  • September 6 to May 15, 2014: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • Closed: December 25

    Lake Louise Visitor Centre

    Village of Lake Louise, next to Samson Mall

    Hours of Operation 2013 - 2014:

  • May 1 to June 13: 9 a.m. -  5 p.m.
  • June 14 to Sept. 2: 8:30 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Sept. 3 to Oct. 14: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Oct. 15 to Nov. 3: The Visitor Centre will be open every day from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. but Parks Canada services will only be available Thursdays through Sundays. The Banff Lake Louise Tourism desk will be open seven days a week. 
  • Nov. 3, 2013 to April 30, 2014: 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays
