Calgary Fishing
You don't have to go far to find a place to reel in your catch of the day. Calgary's Bow River is world-renowned for its trout fishing, and you'll find other great spots outside the city, too.
There are many trout-filled lakes in the area, and most are ice-free by April. Try Police Outpost Lake near Cardston or Beauvais Lake near Pincher Creek.
Anyone sport fishing in Alberta requires a license, aside for children younger than 16, seniors older than 65 and First Nations peoples. It will cost a Canadian resident $20, while a non-resident needs to pony up $40.
Licenses can be purchased at outdoor camping supply stores such as Canadian Tire or Wholesale Sports.
