Upcoming Exhibitions
Charlie Russell and the First Calgary Stampede
June 2 – July 29
In 1912, the famous cowboy artist, Charlie Russell, was invited by Calgary Stampede founder, Guy Weadick, to exhibit his paintings at the first ever Calgary Stampede. This summer, Glenbow is reuniting the paintings from that exhibition 100 years later. Drawn from private collections and major art galleries across North America, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see some of the best works painted by this iconic western artist and will be a must see for Albertans and tourists alike.
Museum visitors are allowed free same day re-entry so you can come back and explore throughout the day.
The Discovery Room invites visitors of all ages to take part in art-based activities that are themed to Glenbow's feature exhibitions. The Discovery Room is open daily during museum hours. Children ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Glenbow is wheelchair accessible and has two wheelchairs available, free of charge, for visitor use.
No food or drinks are allowed on the exhibition floors. Refuel at the cafe outside Glenbow's main doors or check out the many delightful restaurants on Calgary's celebrated Stephen Avenue Mall.
Diaper changing facilities are located in the main floor washrooms. Visitor Services staff can help you access the Second Floor First Aid Room if you require a more private facility.
Backpacks, large shopping bags and umbrellas are not permitted in the galleries. For our guests' comfort, we have a complimentary coat check near the Information Desk with lockers that will accommodate most items.
Visitors are generally allowed to use cameras with flash and personal video cameras except in exhibitions and galleries where signs are posted prohibiting the use
of cameras, flash photographs and video recorders. Please note that photography
is not permitted for most special or feature exhibitions on Glenbow's second
floor.
