Alberta Theatre Projects presents the best in contemporary theatre, with an emphasis on bringing new Canadian plays to life.
A message from our Artistic Director
One of my favourite sounds is the buzz in a theatre lobby. I love catching stray phrases as I slink through the crowd. “Those characters reminded me of my family.” “ The singing was fantastic.” “What did it make you think?” “How did it make you feel?”
Our 2011/12 season is like a play with nine acts, each very different from the other. It offers variety, surprise, and many different kinds of pleasure: real insights, deep feelings, bold new ideas, lush music and visuals, and truthful human storytelling. Taken together, the 2011/12 plays paint a vast canvas of human experience, and ask, “what’s now, what’s new, what’s next?” After all, plays are questions, never answers. They should make us talk and talk and talk.
We’ve dimmed the lights and fluffed the cushions – the place is already buzzing – see you at the theatre for a terrific conversation!
