Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site is the perfect day-trip from Calgary. 2.5 hours away near the crossroads of the Cowboy Trail (22) and David Thompson Highway (11). We are a historic site commemorating the fur trade history (exhibits, interpretative trails, virtual reality experience at our visitor centre), authentic indigenous programming (traditional games, drumming, dance, daily campfire with Metis programming and demonstrations) and stories of legendary explorers like David Thompson.

Bison paddock for wildlife viewing. Guests may also experience camping - rv, walk-in tenting and heritage camping (camp in a tipi, trappers tent or trap line cabin). Equipped camping also available. Great bicycling, canoeing and kayaking on the North Saskatchewan.
