The heart of Calgary is red ... the scarlet red of the North West Mounted Police tunic. When the NWMP built their fort at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers in 1875, they laid the foundations for the city we enjoy today.
Dawn the red coat and witness the arrival of the first train. Travel through time and see Calgary grow as you walk down Main Street. See a movie at the Palace Theatre and take a virtual scenic streetcar tour. Get behind the wheel of our 1928 Ford. Our General Store is a great place to shop for the holidays, birthdays or pick up a little something just for you.
Guests of Fort Calgary are invited to learn and explore in our museum at their own pace. Our location and exhibits combine to tell the story of the arrival of the Northwest Mounted Police, the building of Fort Calgary and the development of Calgary as a community. The museum is complimented by the Deane House Restaurant; where guests can enjoy casual Canadian cuisine at it's best, serving lunch from Tuesday to Sunday.
