Beauty by the B
AldonaB & KateB are sisters who are obsessed and in love with all things beauty, from makeup and hair, to clothes and personal style, they believe in having fun with their looks and being able to express who they are through fashion and beauty. From makeup school to street style hunting, the ladies have a range of experience that they have brought together to form Beauty by the B.
Kate Barutowicz has been working as a professional make-up artist for the past thirteen years, since graduating from the Blanche Macdonald Make-up Artistry program. She has contributed her talent to B.C. Fashion Week, the Juno Awards, and freelance work for weddings, magazines, and for a number of photographers in Vancouver and Calgary. She was both an artist and part of the management team at MAC cosmetics for over seven years, and has worked with various make-up companies such as Benefit, Couture Colour, Nars and Bobbi Brown. Kate has also worked as a make-up artistry teacher, where she implemented and wrote the course curriculum, facilitated seminars and one on one lessons.

AldonaB is the Street Style Huntress and Calgary based freelance contractor specializing in photography, writing, and various fashion endeavors.After attending post-secondary for journalism and photography, Aldona B decided to venture out as a freelance artist to expand and enrich her portfolio. After a few years of art shows and working as a writer and photographer, she accepted her first position as a full-time publicist in 2009.Her love of fashion and photography led her to become the Street Style Huntress when she started her blog a few years back, and she has since photographed stylish people on the streets of Calgary for Swerve Magazine, the Downtown Calgary Association, and most recently, 17th Avenue. She’s also been styling and working within fashion in various capacities. Her photography work includes portraits, actor and model head shots, families, special events, the performing arts, and even a few weddings. As a writer, she has specialized in fashion and lifestyle, and her work has been featured in magazines, in newspapers and online. She’s also a copy writer for website, newsletter and marketing content.

Dan Clapson is a food writer and columnist based out of Calgary, Alberta. His published works include restaurant features and chef profiles as well as articles about creating recipes and hands-on culinary experiences. In addition to writing for Food Network Canada and for Avenue and WestJet’s up! magazine, Dan spends time with some of western Canada’s top chefs in professional kitchens to better appreciate the craft of cooking. In fall 2013, he co-founded Eat North, a food-focused media outlet specializing in Canadian cuisine.
Dan has appeared on the Food Network Canada shows Eat St. and You Gotta Eat Here and contributes to FNC online in his popular blog series, Top Chef Canada: Taking The Challenge Home. He believes culinary culture can be truly appreciated by approaching food from every angle, and his own appreciation of this is reflected in his writing and on his popular blog, Dan's Good Side.
When he’s not writing or eating, which is rare, Dan can be found teaching university students how to cook through his free cooking program Start From Scratch. He believes that the food he eats is only as good as the company that surrounds him, which is why he is lucky to have some the best friends in the whole, wide world. Known for her European looks and a hint of an accent, Daniela Codreanu surprises others when they ask where she is from and she proudly states, “I’m a born and raised Calgarian.”
It was back in 2010, when she first began writing about fashion. She decided to try it out to see where it would lead and has not looked back. Currently, Daniela is a freelance beauty and fashion writer for the Calgary Herald.
“There is so much underground talent in this city and I feel blessed to be able to share it with all of you!”
She believes that Calgary is fashionable and looks forward to giving you the insider information on designers and their events.
