“My Favourite Things – an Ultimate Girlfriends Getaway" Official Contest Rules

 

1.       CONTEST SPONSOR: The “My Favourite Things – an Ultimate Girlfriends Getaway” ("Contest") is being conducted by Tourism Calgary (“Contest Sponsor”) and WestJet, an Alberta Partnership herein after referred to as the “Prize Supplier”. The Contest commences at 12:00:01 MT on December 5, 2012 and closes with entries received by 23:59:59 MT on December 16, 2012 ("Contest Period"). 

2.       ELIGIBILITY: No purchase necessary. This Contest is open only to Canadians residents in the four (4) regions defined below (“Eligible Regions”), who at the time of entry, have reached the age of majority in the province in which they reside and are able to provide proof of identity (in a form acceptable to the Contest Sponsor). The contest is not open to employees (or persons with whom such employees are domiciled) of: Contest Sponsor, Prize Suppliers, or their affiliated companies, advertising and promotional agencies.

Each eligible region is defined based on the postal codes of the permanent address of the entrants:

·         Region 1 (Northern Alberta): residents in the province of Alberta living north of and including the postal codes, T0C and T0E

·         Region 2 (Southern Alberta): residents in the province of Alberta living south of the postal codes, T0C and T0E

·         Region 3 (Southern Saskatchewan): residents in the province of Saskatchewan living south of the postal codes, S0L, S0K and S0E

·         Region 4 (Northern Saskatchewan): residents in the province of Saskatchewan living north of and including the postal codes, S0L, S0K and S0E 

3.       HOW TO ENTER: To be eligible for a contest prize, during the Contest Period, the entrant can enter online at www.VisitCalgary.com/Oprah (“Contest Website”). The entrant must follow all instructions set out on the Contest Website to enter (including providing his/her full name, address, postal code, phone number and e-mail address).

There is a limit of one (1) entry per person/email address/ per calendar day during the Contest Period. If it is discovered that you have entered more than once per day, all additional entries will be void for that particular day. A day is defined as a calendar day from 00:00:00 EST until 23:59:59 MT.

4.       GRAND PRIZE DRAW: On December 17, 2012 at 09:00 MST in Calgary, Alberta, a random draw will be conducted from all eligible entries received to select the four (4) Grand Prize winners. There will be one (1) winner selected from each Eligible Region, outlined in section 2. 

5.       PRIZES: There are four (4) Grand Prizes available to be won in the Contest.

Prize 1: Northern Alberta

a.     Three (3) nights accommodation; accommodations based on double occupancy. Rooms will be standard with two queen beds; upgrades will be paid for by the winner.

b.     Daily meals for each Grand Prize Winner and their Travel Companions; full meal breakdown below:

·         Breakfast to a maximum of twenty two dollars and fifty cents Canadian ($22.50 CDN) per person per day,

·         Lunch to a maximum of forty dollars Canadian ($40 CDN) per person per day,

·         Dinner to a maximum of sixty dollars Canadian ($60 CDN) per person per day,

c.     Ground Transportation around Calgary to planned events as per final travel itinerary,

d.     Four (4) tickets to An Evening with Oprah on Tuesday, January 22, 2013,

e.     Return airfare from Edmonton, Alberta to Calgary, Alberta.

f.      A four hundred sixty four dollars Canadian ($464 CDN) Calgary Stampede gift basket (including, a pair of tickets to the 2013 rodeo or evening show and a Smithbilt white hat) for each Grand Prize Winner and their Travel Companions,

g.     Two hundred fifty dollars Canadian ($250 CDN) for each Grand Prize Winner and their Travel Companions towards a shopping spree, and

h.     Eighty dollars Canadian ($80 CDN) for each Grand Prize Winner and their Travel Companions towards a hair styling and make-up salon experience,

i.       All taxes and fees included. Approximate Value: $9,830.13 CDN as of December 5, 2012 based on an Edmonton, AB departure.

Prize 2: Northern Saskatchewan

a.     Three (3) nights accommodation; accommodations based on double occupancy. Rooms will be standard with two queen beds; upgrades will be paid for by the winner.

b.     Daily meals for each Grand Prize Winner and their Travel Companions; full meal breakdown below:

·         Breakfast to a maximum of twenty two dollars and fifty cents Canadian ($22.50 CDN) per person per day,

·         Lunch to a maximum of forty dollars Canadian ($40 CDN) per person per day,

·         Dinner to a maximum of sixty dollars Canadian ($60 CDN) per person per day,

c.     Ground Transportation around Calgary to planned events as per final travel itinerary,

d.     Four (4) tickets to An Evening with Oprah on Tuesday, January 22, 2013,

e.     Return airfare from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Calgary, Alberta.

f.      A four hundred sixty four dollars Canadian ($464 CDN) Calgary Stampede gift basket (including, a pair of tickets to the 2013 rodeo or evening show and a Smithbilt white hat) for each Grand Prize Winner and their Travel Companions,

g.     Two hundred fifty dollars Canadian ($250 CDN) for each Grand Prize Winner and their Travel Companions towards a shopping spree, and

h.    Eighty dollars Canadian ($80 CDN) for each Grand Prize Winner and their Travel Companions towards a hair styling and make-up salon experience,

i.       All taxes and fees included. Approximate Value: $10,762.53 CDN as of December 5, 2012 based on a Saskatoon, SK departure.

Prize 3: Southern Saskatchewan

a.     Three (3) nights accommodation; accommodations based on double occupancy. Rooms will be standard with two queen beds; upgrades will be paid for by the winner.

b.     Daily meals for each Grand Prize Winner and their Travel Companions; full meal breakdown below:

·         Breakfast to a maximum of twenty two dollars and fifty cents Canadian ($22.50 CDN) per person per day,

·         Lunch to a maximum of forty dollars Canadian ($40 CDN) per person per day,

·         Dinner to a maximum of sixty dollars Canadian ($60 CDN) per person per day,

h.     Eighty dollars Canadian ($80 CDN) for each Grand Prize Winner and their Travel Companions towards a hair styling and make-up salon experience,

Prize 4: Southern Alberta

a.     Three (3) nights accommodation; accommodations based on double occupancy. Rooms will be standard with two queen beds; upgrades will be paid for by the winner.

b.     Daily meals for each Grand Prize Winner and their Travel Companions; full meal breakdown below:

·         Breakfast to a maximum of twenty two dollars and fifty cents Canadian ($22.50 CDN) per person per day,

h.     All taxes and fees included. Approximate Value: $8,585.89 CDN as of December 5, 2012.

Three Grand Prizes consist of a trip for four (4) to Calgary, Alberta between January 20 to 23, 2013, from Regina, SK, Saskatoon SK, and Edmonton, AB.  Calgary winner will not receive any flights as part of this Grand Prize.

Grand Prize Description:

 

No travel expenses between the winner’s home and the major airport nearest the winner’s home is included. Expenses of a personal nature beyond that outlined above are not included. All travel details will be arranged by the Contest Sponsor's agent in consultation with the Grand Prize winner. The trip prize is subject to applicable travel advisories and unforeseeable delays, and has a maximum ten thousand seven hundred sixty two dollars and fifty three cents Canadian ($10,762.53 CDN as of December 5, 2012, tax included) retail value limit. In the event that any selected entrant for the trip prize is unable or unwilling to travel on the designated dates, he/she will be disqualified and no longer eligible to win any prize and the Contest Sponsor reserves the right to select at random another potential trip prize winner from that region.

 

The Winner and travel companions are responsible for all other expenses not expressly noted above as included in the trip prize, including (but not limited to) gratuities, other transportation, other entertainment, merchandise, souvenirs, local and long distance telephone calls, taxes, travel and cancellation insurance and all personal expenses of any kind. Winner and travel companions must have all necessary identification and documents to permit travel. It is recommended that the winner and travel companion obtain sufficient personal insurance prior to departure.

 

The trip prize will not be rescheduled or substituted once booked. No responsibility is assumed by the Contest Sponsor and Prize Suppliers for cancelled, delayed, suspended or rescheduled travel for any reason.

 

The Winner’s travel companions must be of the age of majority in his/her province of residence. Winner and travel companions will be required to travel together, on the same itinerary.

 

Except at the sole and absolute discretion of the Contest Sponsor, no prize substitutions, transfers, or cash in lieu of any of the above prizes, will be allowed.

6.        FLIGHT DETAILS: WestJet will provide return airfare for three (3) winners and their three (3) guests on travel dates and times predetermined by WestJet.

 

Edmonton, AB, Regina, SK and Saskatoon, SK winners will each receive:

Return airfare for you and your three (3) guests. . Flights will depart on Sunday January 20, 2013 on a flight predetermined and booked by WestJet in advance and return on predetermined flights on January 23, 2013. Winner and guests must travel on flights predetermined by WestJet.

 

Prize is valid for travel between January 20 – 23, 2013. Changes to travel dates, times and names are not permitted. WestJet will provide flight details, with departure and arrival times. Guest names cannot be changed once booked.

 

Prize must be taken as offered and is neither transferable nor redeemable for cash, credit or alternative prizes, except in WestJet’s sole discretion. Prize cannot be sold and in the event that it is sold, the Prize will be void. WestJet reserves the right to substitute the Prize with a prize of equal or greater value. No credit or reimbursement will be provided if Prize is not taken. Prize cannot be combined with any other promotional offer or offers provided by WestJet.

 

Winner and his/her guests must travel on the same itinerary for both the outbound and inbound flights. No changes to travel dates or passenger names are permitted. Winner and his/her guests are responsible for transportation to and from the departure gateway airport and all other expenses not stated as included herein. Prize is governed by laws, regulations, international conventions, WestJet’s tariffs and conditions of carriage. Other restrictions may apply.

 

7.       ODDS OF WINNING: Odds of being selected as a winner depend on the number of eligible entries received from each eligible region during the Contest Period.

8.       NOTIFYING SELECTED ENTRANTS: The selected entrant will be required to correctly answer a skill-testing question and to complete and submit a release online and to ensure each travel companion submits an executed liability release. The Grand Prize selected entrants will be contacted by phone and/or email immediately after the random draw takes place, as provided for in these Contest Rules. A minimum of three contact attempts will be made by the Contest Sponsor. The selected entrant will be disqualified if (a) she/he cannot be contacted, or fails to respond to any contact, within two (2) days. of the initial contact attempt; or (b) the Contest Sponsor determines that such entrant is ineligible according to these Contest Rules; or (c) that entrant does not comply with the Contest Rules, including correctly answering the skill-testing question and submitting all required releases; or (d) if his/her prize notification is returned to the Contest Sponsor as being undeliverable. If the selected entrant cannot be contacted within the time limit outlined above, he/she will be disqualified and no longer eligible to win any prize; at this time the Contest Sponsor reserves the right to select at random another potential Prize winner.

The Contest Sponsor's determination in relation to the foregoing will be final. Arrangements for receiving a Prize will be made directly with each winner. No prize substitutions, transfers, or cash in lieu of the prizes will be allowed, except at the sole and absolute discretion of the Contest Sponsor, who reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion and for any reason, to substitute for any Prize (or portion thereof) a substitute prize (or portion thereof) of equal or greater value as stated in these Contest rules, including without limitation, a cash award.

9.       CORRESPONDENCE AND COMMUNICATION: All correspondence and communication with contestants in connection with this Contest will be by email, except as otherwise noted. By entering or attempting to enter this Contest, all contestants agree to abide by these Contest Rules. All decisions of the Contest Sponsor are final and without right of appeal with respect to all aspects of this Contest, including but not limited to eligibility and/or disqualification of contestants, the correctness of answers to the skill-testing question and awarding of any Prize. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and is void where prohibited.

10.    RELEASES: By claiming or accepting a prize in this Contest, each selected entrant and their three (3) travel companions consents to the use of his/her name, voice, picture (both moving and still) or likeness, without compensation, for promotional and/or publicity purposes as determined by the Contest Sponsor. Each Prize winner and their travel companions agree to release the Contest Sponsor, its assignees, affiliates, promotional agencies and associates named in the release from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or lost persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, entry for or use of the prize. 

11.    NO LIABILITY: The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to change the terms of this Contest, suspend or cancel it, at any time, without liability on the part of the Contest Sponsor, and without prior notice. Contest Sponsor shall not be liable for late, lost, incomplete, misdirected, interrupted or otherwise invalid entries. If in the opinion of the Contest Sponsor the administration or integrity of the Contest is compromised or corrupted at any time (including, without limitation, as a result of fraud, technical failures (including any network server or hardware failure, viruses, bugs, errors in programming, telephone transmissions or communications) or any other errors or other causes beyond the control of the Contest Sponsor), the Contest Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the Contest. If due to any production, advertising or other error of any kind, or as the result of any fraud or any other factor or circumstance affecting the intended operation of this Contest, there are more prize claims than prizes stated in these Contest rules, the Contest Sponsor reserves the right to suspend awarding of the prizes and to conduct a random drawing from among all eligible claimants in each eligible region to award only the number of prizes stated in these Official Rules.  In no event will the Contest Sponsor be required to award more prizes than stated in these rules & regulations.

12.    REFERENCES TO OTHER TRADE NAMES: The Contest website may contain references to other company, brand and/or product names. The company, brand and/or product names are used for identification purposes only and may be trade-marks of their respective owners. The images of people or places displayed, forms, structures and graphics displayed or found within the website are either the property of, or used with permission by Contest Sponsor. Contest Sponsor may be, but is not necessarily, sponsored by or affiliated with any owners of the other company, brand or product names appearing on the website, and makes no representations about them, their owners, their products or services.

13.    PRIVACY: For further information about the Contest Sponsor's privacy practices, please review the privacy policy located at http://www.visitcalgary.com/privacy-policy.  By entering this contest you consent to Sponsor, its promotional agencies and Contest judges storing and using the personal information you submitted with your entry for the purpose of administering the contest.
